Judging a Book By Its Cover

Hi, guys! Hope your week is going well so far! I have been taking advantage of the warm weather and have been going on more walks lately because honestly, sitting around all day is no fun. 😉 Going for a walk also helps clear my mind. It’s just like when I go to the gym and workout. That’s my “me” time and it definitely helps me shift gears from my daily routines and helps me relax.

Anyway, in my previous post I mentioned that I would blog less frequently but here I am writing another post. I guess it’s easy for me to write when I have things on my mind because my thoughts just flow naturally.

Do you judge a book by its cover? Do you judge others based on what they post on social media? I have to admit that I do sometimes make assumptions from what I see. I don’t post things as much on my personal social media accounts anymore since I don’t want anything to have a negative impact on my reputation or career. I also try my best to keep things positive and paint a happy image of myself. It’s funny because Facebook is the only source of connection I have with a lot of people, especially those that I went to school with ages ago. What they know about me is simply through what they see on Facebook.

What I find even funnier is when people that I actually interact with outside of the internet world makes assumptions about me from what they see on my social media accounts. Sure, I only choose to share and highlight positive aspects of my life but I do have good days and bad days, and there have been some days when I just felt like crap. One person assumed that I never experience anything negative just simply due to the fact that I don’t broadcast those types of feelings. I was actually ridiculed for not being understanding of those who go through difficult times or undergo stress. It was so unbelievable hearing someone say those kinds of things to me and also very hurtful at the same time. This person was obviously judging a book by its cover. I have definitely experienced some hard times but just because I don’t make a public service announcement about it, it doesn’t mean they don’t ever exist.

Do you typically make judgments or assumptions about others based on what you see?

Do you feel that your social media presence paints an accurate portrait of your life?

Love,

Polly
