Hi there, friends! How was your weekend? I hope you got a chance to do something fun! Last week I got an email notification from Amazon Local reminding me to use a deal I purchased at a local sushi restaurant so my husband and I decided to take advantage of the opportunity before the deal expires. We both love sushi and have tried many places in the Seattle area. If you ever visit Seattle and are looking for a sushi place to check out, don’t hesitate to ask! I have some great recommendations! :)

The restaurant that we went to was Japonessa. It is in downtown Seattle and in walking distance from many touristy areas. I have to admit, I am quite a snob when it comes to Japanese food but I definitely recommend Japonessa. Of course, I took pictures of our food to share with you!

Takoyaki is one of my favorite Japanese appetizers! They are wheat dough balls filled with a special gooey sauce and bits of octopus. I’m normally not a fan of octopus but I think it’s the sauce that makes me really like takoyaki.

We also ordered the last samurai roll and some nigiri off the special menu. The last samurai roll had yellowtail and albacore tuna topped with red onion, scallions, and a mild spicy sauce.

My husband ordered omakase. “Omakase” pretty much means chef’s choice in Japanese. This is probably one of the best omakase dishes I’ve seen because it included lots of salmon and tuna belly fat. Belly fat is typically expensive so I was pleasantly surprised to see so many pieces included. Fish belly fat is very light, buttery, and delicious! We definitely got our money’s worth!

Ok, let’s shift gears from sushi to spice rubbed chicken! What I love about this recipe is that it takes about 5 minutes to prepare and you probably already have all of the ingredients in your spice rack!
